Martinborough Community Board update
Firstly I would like to welcome our new community board member to the team, it is great to be back up to full strength.
Fiona Beattie works at Martinborough School as a Teacher Aide, she is married to Andrew with two children, Lochlin (13) and Paige (11). She has lived and worked in the Martinborough area for most of her life and many of you will know her from Plunket, Playcentre, Kindergarten, Toy Library and the friends of Martinborough School. Her community experience will serve Fiona well as she takes on a broader role with the Community Board. Fiona is particularly looking forward to supporting our youth in the ward.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the other members of the Board, Pam Colenso, Victoria Read, Julie Riddell and Max Stevens, it is a pleasure to work with people who are genuinely passionate and committed to our community.
We are about to enter a new funding round and have a little over $8,000 available to distribute to applications which support our three year plan priorities:
• The Town Centre and the Waihinga Centre development
• Providing Opportunities for Our Young People
• Fostering a Sense of Community
• A Pedestrian and Cycle Friendly district
• Well maintained and utilised Community Assets
• Supporting our Rural and Coastal Communities
You can find out more and download forms at www.swdc.govt.nz/MCB. I’m also available on Email: martinboroughlisa@cornelissen.co.nz or Phone: (028) 2553 4857 to discuss any Community Board matters. Have a wonderful August.
