MIDWINTER LUNCH

We decided it was time to venture “over the hill” for a change for our midwinter lunch. This turned out to be a good decision as we had a great time at the Aston Norwood Garden cafe.

It was a nice change sitting around tables chatting and catching up rather than the more formal setup involved in sitting in front of a guest speaker. The food was lovely, the company great and there was plenty of laughter. Between courses we decided to ensure the brains were all working so we had a very enjoyable quiz organised by our own Hilda. The results were a good balance – reassured us that our brains were still working and our general knowledge pretty good without being perfect and giving us swollen heads!

Some of us had a brief walk around the gardens, enough to tempt us to go again in the springtime when everything will be in full flush rather than in winter sleep mode. The venue certainly came up to expectations and the open fire was wonderful at this time of year.

We have a great programme organised for the second half of the year with speakers including Andy Bearpark, with his interesting life going from being Margaret Thatcher’s personal assistant to practising and teaching yoga in Featherston, and Kate Mead, who has brought a wonderful boost to the cultural life of Featherston as well as a great place to have coffee and browse!

Anyone who would like more information on our Rebus Club and our various interest groups are very welcome to contact Margaret Griffiths on 306-8102.
