Martinborough Junior Hockey – 2019 Results and Prizegiving

Martinboprough 1st 11 and MIS Falcolns on Grand Final day

Our 1^st XI team came so close to victory in their final of the A-grade competition against rivals, MIS Falcons.  Martinborough scored an early goal in the first half of the game and held their defence until MIS scored a late goal in the final 3 minutes to draw 1-1 at full time.  Martinborough was then defeated 3-1 in a penalty shoot out to finish runners up for the second year in a row.  We will try again next year!  Congratulations to all of the players, Neens Bruce (coach) and Carolyn Jephson (manager) – a champion team.  

We held our prizegiving and breakup on 9^th September.  A big thank you to all the coaches and managers for their time and commitment at weekly games and practices.  Well done to all our players and in particular the following trophy winners this year:

Representative hockey training is in full swing, with the U13 tournaments being held in the second week of the October school holidays.  Good luck to all of our players and their teams in those tournaments.  They are Toby Nelson, George Broom and George Fenwick (Hatch Cup team); Amanda Jephson, Ella Kirkup, Neve Bruce and Kelsi Brown (Collier Trophy team); Melinda Marshall, Lydia Mason and Sophie Sweeney (Rawleigh Trophy team); and Aleesha Hume (U13 Girls Development Team).
