Calling all gardeners…your Rose Show is back!!

October 14, 2019 October 2019 No Comments

We are delighted to announce that the Martinborough Rose & Flower Show is back for 2019. After a small hiatus while the Town Hall was renovated, we are back with a bang. The show will be held on November 9th at the Waihinga Centre.

This is our community’s show, so please come along and support it. Classes are free to enter so why not give it a go! We welcome spectators in the afternoon to come and view all the stunning displays; there are stalls to purchase plants and raffles to enjoy.

We look forward to hosting retuning and novice Rose exhibitors. If you have an interest in roses but are new to showing; we have lots of experienced rose lovers who are on hand to help you on the day guiding you how to stage your roses. While the exquisite rose takes centre stage, we also have sections for Cut Flowers, Home & Garden and Floral Art. The Theme Arrangement class is titled ‘Celebrate Martinborough’, we can’t wait to see what creative ideas people will come up with.

Our budding young gardeners (children 12 and under) have their own section. They can get creative making animals from vegetables, create an adventure garden or their Theme Arrangement is ‘Sports’ – we wonder if the All Blacks will feature.

For those not blessed with a green finger but have a keen eye behind the camera, we will again be running the popular Photography competition. This is for amateur photographers and there are 3 classes to enter: a single rose, any other bloom and a dedicated youth class.

Schedules are available from the Library, P&K, Village Café and Property Brokers, or find us on Facebook @MartinboroughRoseShow for more information.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors: Property Brokers, Rose & Smith @ Tauherenikau, Alluminus Beauty Therapy, Pain & Kershaw Mitre10, Tree Top Flowers, Lot Eight, Finom and T Kershaw Contracting.
