South Wairarapa Neighbourhood Support

December 9, 2019 December 2019 No Comments

Neighbourhood Support is a nationwide community-led movement that brings people and neighbourhoods together to create safe, resilient and connected communities.  One of the ways we support our groups is with our National Campaigns.

This month we are looking at The Joy of Giving – December 1st to 31st

We want to challenge our members to come together and give generously and from the heart to help those in need this holiday season. With so much going on this time of year it’s easy to get caught up in the festivities and forget about those having a di cult time.

From widows and elderly neighbours with no one to celebrate with to single mothers / fathers and those with disabilities struggling to just get by, reach out to someone who could use a helping hand and remind them what the holiday spirit is all about! Other ideas include fundraising for a local charity of your choice, doing a food or clothes drive, organising a ‘Secret Santa’ gift exchange amongst your neighbours or even a community-wide Christmas lunch.

This month also coincides with International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd.

Let us know how you’re giving back in your community this holiday season by tagging us in your posts + using the following hashtag so we can see what you get up to: #NSNZthejoyofgiving

In other news!  We recently launched our rebranded website!  Please check us out at neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz!  For more information on Neighbourhood Support see the website or email me jen@connectingcommunities.org.nz

Have a wonderful and safe festive season!
