Fundraising for Wharekaka off to a great start

Almost $12,000 has already been raised  for Wharekaka Aged Care Community through The Oak Tree Community – a fundraising initiative launched just last month. Set up by the Wharekaka Board with David Kershaw as Patron, The Oak Tree Community allows you to donate a set amount per month or annually.

“Since it was set up 50 years ago Wharekaka has been a wonderful asset. It’s just a short walk to the shops and cafes so while they are able, residents can still be involved in the life of the village. It’s easy for friends and families to visit; and having hospital-level care available for residents when they need it provides another level of support,” says David.

Like many other locals who have had family living at Wharekaka, David praises it warmly: “My mother-in-law’s time there was probably one of the happiest times of her life. It’s a very peaceful, caring environment.”

He says funds raised by The Oak Tree Community will be vital to Wharekaka’s ongoing operation, helping to meet the shortfall between Government funding and running costs. While funds are also raised by the Wharekaka Auxiliary, bequests and other sources, a system of regular donations will allow for good planning.

Tiered membership of the Oak Tree Community allows you to donate as much as you would like to with membership ranging from Acorn ($10 per month) to Oak Tree (from $2,500 per year).
