Martinborough Golf Report

December 23, 2020 December 2020, Sports No Comments

At the end of October we held the finals of the Club Championships in near perfect conditions.  In the Seniors Division Tony Russo took on Lance Phelps with Tony shooting a magnificent 63 in the morning round and continuing that form into the afternoon, finally winning on the 25th hole.  Doug Ferguson took on Bob Tossill in the Intermediate Division with Doug taking the honours.

In the Junior Division, junior Jackson Gray was playing Trevor Petersen in a closely fought match with Jackson taking the honours.  Debbie Donaldson beat Sandra Petersen in the Ladies Silver division on the 32nd hole, Emily Loughnan beat Jane Terpstra also on the 32nd hole and Julie Weber beat Nicola Warren on the 28th hole.  Congratulations to all our champions.

Unfortunately over the last few weeks the weather has not been kind to the Grumpies but winners have been Nick Allen and Rob McCreary.  Two’s have gone to Nick Allen, Malcolm Wood, Shayne Hammond and Malcolm Bridge.

At the beginning of the month the Ladies played their 36 Hole Strokeplay Championship with Sandra Petersen taking out the best Gross from Kris Chamberlain and Carol Parkinson winning the best Nett from Jenny Wilkie.  Two’s went to Kris Chamberlain (2), Sandra Petersen and Emily Loughnan.

The Ladies held their AGM and prize giving last week where Sandra Petersen needed a wheelbarrow to take all her trophies home.  Thank you’s must go to Ju Allen and her committee and also to Sherryl Howie and Billie Holmes for all their hard work over the past year.

The next few weeks at the club are looking very busy with our Christmas tournament and Closing Day in early December and also our AGM on the 2nd.  Roll on Christmas is what I say!!!!
