News from First Church
May these be the gifts your Christmas brings –
Peace, Gladness, Good Health and Love
Just think what we’ve been through since this time last year! It has been an extraordinary time to look back on and reflect on how we all “managed” the restrictions and postponement of regular activities and events. We at First Church feel that we coped and adapted amazingly well – when services could not be held in April and May, contact was maintained with everyone either by phone or email, and Zoom services were shared on-line.
When at the end of May we were able to meet together again, we all shared in a sense of togetherness and confidence at having supported each other and come through a difficult time. First Church has found a strength and unity of purpose in facing the future with well attended café church services in our hall.
We managed to hold a great Book Fair in August when the restrictions eased, and were always hopeful we could fit in the traditional Kirk Fair. And so we did – managing to book the Town hall at the end of November.
This went very well indeed, thanks to the tremendous efforts of all who contributed in so many ways. Our convener Pam Colenso was an inspiration and driving force once again, and thanks are due to everyone who helped setting up and running the various stalls. Thanks too to all who donated goods, and to the customers so necessary to the successful result.
