Martinborough Golf report

On Queens Birthday weekend we hosted the Martinborough Kindy Ambrose Tournament with a good field of 25 teams competing.  The winning team was Honor, Doug & Olivia Clark along with Austin Skelton with a nett 54.25.  Second was Nathan Fenwick, Dan & Matt Nicholson and Marco de Groot, nett 56, third Michael Fleming, Peter Warren, Ritch Wood and Shayne Cater, nett 57.62, 4th Guy Walmsley, Bob Barker, John Errington and Peter Schenk, nett 58.12, 5th Jenny & Tora Boyne, Kheinan Morrisey and Byron Hegglin, nett 58.37.

The Grumpies have been getting good numbers going out to play on Tuesdays with winners over the last few weeks being Sandy Bidwill, Chris Handley and Brian Russo.  Twos have gone to Andy Morison, Bob Tosswill, Brian Russo, Guy Walmsley, John Errington and Malcolm Bridge.

Wednesday Ladies are also getting good numbers with Julie Weber, Sandra Petersen and Jan Ferguson being winners.  Twos have gone to Carol Parkinson, Marilyn MacKenzie, Adele Cairns and Nicola Warren.

The nine hole winners this month have been Tania Williamson and Gaylene Selby Neal, and Debbie Coom.  The 9 holers also went and played at Carterton earlier this month in Carterton’s Pink Ribbon Day.

The winners this month in Thursday Club have been Andrew McKenzie, Graham Wilson and David Stevenson.  Twos have gone to Doug Clark, Trevor Petersen, Colin Whibley-Smith, Malcolm Wood, Pete Price, Malcolm Bridge (2), Bob Tosswill, Shayne Hammond, Paul McKenzie, David Stevenson (2), Rick Hargreaves, Martin Napier, Paul Shepherd and James Elworthy.

On the weekends John Warner, Phil Eberlein and Chris Hanson have all been winners with Guy Walmsley, John Warner, Phil Eberlein, Malcolm Bridge and George Kirk all having twos.

The Marquis Shield boys had a good win at home against Pahiatua with the final round being played (weather permitting) this coming weekend at Mahunga.

The ladies played Riverside Cup at Eketahuna where they had a good win over Castelpoint/Riversdale with the final round being played at Carterton against Eketahuna.

The Ngahau Trophy/Grandma’s & Grandpa’s members only tournament was due to be played last weekend but due to the inclement weather that has been postponed until 4th July.
