Featherston wrestlers go offshore
Two members of Featherston Amateur Wrestling Club’s senior class have again been asked to join a New Zealand team overseas.
Wairangi Sargent and Angus Read will take part in the Journeymen Tournament and Training Camp over Easter in New York state.
Over the week they are there they will be coached by coaches from around the world and compete against wrestlers from Mongolia to Italy and all the wrestling countries in between.
Check out the fundraising on our Facebook page or get in touch if you would like to support.
On Friday 5 April the club will hold its annual golf fundraiser at Martinborough Golf Club.
Who can forget the number of prizes on offer and the size of the meat packs won at earlier tourneys! The funds this year are going towards repairs at the gym used by the Wrestling and SMAC clubs.
The season kicks off 6 March at 5.30 p.m. Juniors and 6.30 p.m. Intermediate/Seniors.
All wrestlers are welcome to come and see a fantastic club in action or to pick up where they left off last season. With the first local tournament in early April it’s a great chance to test their skills early in the season.
Contact the club to register your interest or if you want to support it.
Our thanks to those already helping out – Davis Sawmill, Sargent Motorcycles, Crightons ITM, Holmes Construction and Martinborough Transport.
See you on the mat soon. featherstonamateurwrestling@gmail.com
