Rainbow of colour saturates Considine Park
Considine Park was filled with colour tossers on Sunday 10 March, as the sun shone down to make it a perfect afternoon for family fun.
It is the second time a “colour run” event has been hosted in Martinborough as a colourful way to raise funds for a community project, this one for the Pump Track venue at the park.
The first was a fundraiser for the Waihinga Centre park upgrade.
There had been a request to have a colour run as part of the latest fundraising and so the call was answered and around 130 people joined in to be doused in colour during a spattered circuit around the park.
As always with these events it takes a village and huge thanks go out to the seven colour sponsors who enabled the event to happen, Mitre 10, Karahui Gelato Bar, Ventana, Colombo, Top 10 Holiday Park, FieldLA2 & Paterson & Co. Add to the list the army of volunteers who became the colour throwers for the day, and who had as much fun as the entrants!
Throw in some music thanks to much loved local DJ Gravy who got to use the fabulous stage van Oshkidee loaned us for free! add some funky dance vibes thanks to Caitlin from The Dance Club and we had a colourful after-party.
Feedback from the afternoon has been amazing and this was more about community fun than anything else, so finding we raised just over $1,600 was a fabulous bonus for the funds!
So where are we at with the project? Well on the way to achieving the goal – so we can confirm the pump track will be built later this year!
We are just confirming a build timetable with designers TrailPro but it is looking like Spring will be a go.
Some private donations have made such a difference to the project we are able to lock things in which is so exciting. We have been truly blown away by the generosity these people have shown.
It’s been a long time coming but we are nearly there! Follow updates on Facebook Marty Bike Pump Track Project.
The next big event to support the project is the Skyline Challenge – grab your tickets and see you there!
