Wonderful Weddings were on everyone’s mind this month at Wharekaka.

Residents and staff alike came together to share their wedding photos, dresses and memories over a cuppa and some fantastic wedding cake.

Everyone enjoyed seeing how Wedding fashions and trends have changed over the years. The highlight of the event was our manager Corlette slipping into her Wedding dress in order to play our bride when the time came to cut the cake!

Thank you to Cherry Van Kranen for jumping on the piano at the last minute to play the wedding march and also Joyce Hogg for decorating the cake! These special touches really made the event.

A thank you also goes out to Ray Sparks who kindly donated the recycled Rimu barstools that you may have seen being raffled off in Kitchener’s this month. Thank you also to everyone that bought tickets, congratulations go to Gail Wilson who was our lucky winner!

Auxiliary News
The major fund raising event for the Auxiliary is planned for Monday 1 September – the annual Bridge and Mah Jong day at Brackenridge. This has been strongly supported for many years and is hotly contested. An excellent lunch is provided by the Auxiliary and there are some superb spot prizes and raffles. Do consider making up a table – contact Barbie Cox 306 9934 or Sue Hughes 306 9666 for further details.?? ?
