Cross Creek Blues Club
August club night with our very entertaining guests “Kelburn Viaduct Municipal Ensemble Jug Band” featuring Neil Worboys, Pip Payne, Bill Woods, Maurice Priestley and Steve Carlyle, was great high energy music for a winter’s night. Their terrific rendition of “If You’s a Viper” is among the videos on our You Tube Link: https://www.youtube.com/user/crosscreekbluesclub
September will be “World Famous in Wairarapa!” members night, including a full line up of the accomplished musicians of the Cross Creek Blues Club. Among our members we have a musician who (back in the day) opened for Eric Clapton and Cream, and another who toured with New Zealand guitar legend Peter Posa. These and other blues musicians who have toured with bands internationally, now play their music right here in the Wairarapa and will perform on club night.
Feature band will be “KB and the Roosters” – Kevin Bannister guitar, Rod Lawrence on bass guitar and Jeremy Were on drums – along with Greytown singer/songwriter Brad Reeves. Brad’s original song “Made in China” backed by “KB and the Roosters” is also on the club’s You Tube link.
For another taste of the Blues, try ArrowFM (92.7) which presents a Blues programme each Friday from 7-8pm hosted by Dave
Sinton. http://www.arrowfm.co.nz/programmes/show/24/friday-night-blues/
October will feature Kapiti Bluesman Al Witham and we are working on a summer programme that will include some favourites including Delaney Davidson, Clare Christian, Bob Cooper-Grundy (maybe with a little “Hard Candy” thrown in for good measure), and Auckland singer Caitlin Smith who will be one of our guests for Ladies Night in November.
