Library-news Summer has been fabulous – especially for the children.  Pool, beach, sun and especially the Summer Reading Programme (sponsored by the Eastern  & Central Community Trust).  Janet logged in over 86 children at least 4 times each.  My maths is quite appalling as you all know but even I can figure out that is quite a lot.

Janet did spend quite a lot of time in her very small tent and may not be able to stand straight again but the children loved it.  We had some fantastic entertainers also, a very realistic and slightly naughty pirate (Festus McBoyle) and Tanya Batt the “Pacific Princess and storystitcher”.  Of course the programme would not be complete without Zappo who entertained the children twice, once in the Village Café garden and as the crowning glory of the Finale party in Greytown on the 27th January.

So now school is back and the library is getting back to normality.  We have just received another $2,000 from the Cocrane Trust for Large Print books (thank you so much) so I am busy looking at catalogues – any requests please let me know.

We have a lot of events and competitions coming up for both adults and children.  Our Martinborough Library Facebook has over 130 ‘Likes’.  All our various antics and book information is updated regularly.  It’s a lot of fun so do have a look.

Our Book Babies sessions are up and running again.  Janet’s usual session for pre-schoolers is on Tuesday mornings at 10 for half to three quarters of an hour.  Melody is carrying on with our Te Reo bi-lingual session and full Te Reo session.  These are now being held on Friday mornings at 9.30 and 10am to suit more of our lovely customers.
Now the library has calmed down a little (except for the Librarians) it is safe to come and see us without tripping over small bodies everywhere.  Do come in and see us.
