Brilliant Young Violinist Returns

May 12, 2015 May 2015 No Comments

Brillaint-young-violinist-returns Nineteen year old Aziel Verner is making a special appearance in Martinborough before heading overseas for further studies. He will give a one-off recital, accompanied on piano by his brother Asaph, at David and Winifred Bull’s Cabbage Tree Vineyard at 4pm on Sunday 24 May.  Their repertoire will include Schubert’s Violin Sonata No. 1, music by Sarasate, Tchaikovsky and more.

?They last played in Martinborough five months ago just before Christmas in the successful Verner family concert held in St Andrew’s Church. The audience raised $1,200 to encourage him with applications to top overseas acadamies.

He has now been accepted for a 3yr course by the prestigious Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore.??Aziel recalls his first performance in Martinborough when he was just 12 years old, playing in the violin section with the Wellington Youth Orchestra – brother Asaph too: $13,000 was raised that evening for the new Medical Centre.

“The Martinborough Town Hall is a wonderful venue for serious music,” Aziel says. “I would love to return one day  –  sooner rather than later  –   to play the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with orchestra. I would love to give back to the community by helping raise money to keep their old Hall, restore it and improve it.”??
Admission to the Verners’ May recital at Cabbage Tree Vineyard is $20, payable on line to ANZ a/c No. 01 0671 0024097 02 using your name for reference.   Or send a cheque to Ian Cresswell, Box 10, Martinborough.   To assist with Aziel’s Singapore expenses, donations may be made by separate payment to the same ANZ a/c.
