Cliff in the very productive winter garden.

Cliff in the very productive winter garden.

This month has been quite hectic with the on going  renovations at Wharekaka. Four new fire doors have been installed this is in keeping with the requirements for the hospital level care.

On the topic of Hospital Level Care – we are expecting to commence this service early September. An audit has taken place which Wharekaka passing with flying colours.  We are in the process of applying for grants to assist with the building extensions and the purchase of equipment.

We have worked around this and have held all our regular activities.

We continue to take advantage of this mild winter and have been on many drives around the countryside ,this is very popular and we have seen our first spring lambs.

This month the residents enjoyed music from Paul Mason a visit from Bell street kindergarten and will also have a group from Martinborough Primary visit to listen to reading.

We have five new lounge chairs thanks to the very generous fundraising event by Rural Women of Martinborough.  A new wall / shelving and storage unit has been built in the lounge which has made for a light filled environment to be in.

Gerald Lowe, a villa resident, kindly gifted the home a key board. Cliffs green fingers have ensured that the garden continues to grow.
We are hoping to start a bridge group so if there is any interest please contact activities@wharekaka.org.nz.  If you would like to become a volunteer at Wharekaka please contact Maggie Westergren.

The Auxiliary held a antique road show and a Christmas mid winter dinner is planned.

We currently have a villa available for sale by Occupation Right Agreement . If you are interested or have any queries please contact Wharekaka’s General Manager, Corlette Doherty, on 06 3069-781
