Taking Martinborough Wine Village  from “ Good to Great “

June 13, 2022 June 2022 No Comments

We need you to help us make this happen !

The Martinborough Business Association ( trading as Martinborough Wine Village.nz) is charged with some clear goals:

  • Promotion & Support of Martinborough Tourism
  • Promotion & Support of Martinborough Business
  • Promotion & Support of Martinborough Vineyards
  • Promotion & Support of Martinborough as a place to live, work and play

With the reopening of our borders fully at the end of July we can expect to get back to visitor numbers and more  that we enjoyed pre Covid-19. In the meantime like when a “fisherman can’t put  sea he repairs his nets”,so to have we. We’ve re-shaped what we want our future focus to be on. There are three main objectives:

  • Our Martinborough Brand
  • How we market that, and
  • Our support for businesses .

Martinborough is a destination town not necessarily driven by events (although we have plenty and a couple of iconic ones ) but is supported by many activities for our visitors to experience. Martinborough is famous for its 20-odd vineyards and cellar doors, most within walking or cycling distance of the village square. It’s packed with colonial charm, and criss-crossed with walking and cycle tracks to explore. You can’t beat an afternoon cycling Martinborough’s flat country roads, calling into vineyards and olive groves along the way.

We’re developing a marketing plan to promote Martinborough and its brand to a bigger audience. We say “ Martinborough Wine Village is your local. Join us for outdoor adventures, boutique wineries, divine dining, and time away with friends.

Whatever floats your boat and brightens your day, Martinborough makes it easy for you to have fun, fit in, be a local”. We need your help and support to do this.

We need all our businesses and communities to get involved whether you’re a member of our Association or not  … and  we’d love you to join !

Small medium businesses make up 97% of all NZ businesses and employ 2.3. million people. It contributes 25% of our GDP. Regional NZ plays a big part in this. We recently signed up a partnership deal with Business Wairarapa ( the regional Chamber of Commerce) to ensure that:

  • We are part of the whole of Wairarapa response to the government as they reach out through the Chamber for feedback and opinion on recovery issues confronting small businesses.
  • our members get access to all of the Chamber of Commerce benefits and supports for training, business development and industry networking and recognition
  • Being a member gets you into a network and camaraderie with people with common business goals and experiences, access to visitor and tourism information that helps build your capability and capacity, grows your business due to the Associations marketing of  Martinborough and alignment to Destination Wairarapa and Business Wairarapa – all this and more for less than cup of coffee per week
