Junior-Rugby- The 2016 rugby season is already halfway through, and our teams (and supporters!) have all been enjoying the relatively mild weekend weather. This year we have 6 competition teams – Under 6 Rippa, Under 8 Black and Under 8 Green, Under 9, Under 11 and Under 13, and a total of 64 registered players.
Our Under 6 Rippa team are coached by one of our Senior A players, Tennesse Liumaihetau. Having a senior player coaching our smallest rugby players is a great example of our “whole club” focus. The Under 6’s are having a blast learning the basics of rugby from Tennesse, ably assisted by Steve Golding. These guys have a real focus on fun!

The Under 8 grade has now been split top/bottom, and we are fortunate enough to have the numbers to have a team in both divisions. The split means that teams get to play rugby at their own level, and has made for some very closely contested games.

Our annual Club Day (aka Old Timers) was held on June 11th, with our Under 9, Under 11 and Under 13 teams all playing at home against Gladstone. It was great to have 3 JAB teams able to play on the number one field, in front of a supportive home crowd. Our JAB sausage sizzle on the day was a success, and we thank everyone in the community who called in and supported us.

Our club has a monthly e-newsletter “Out Wide” which is available to anyone interested. Just email admin@martinboroughrugbyclub.co.nz to be added to our mailing list. For any JAB queries, please email Becs Madden, JAB convenor scottandbecs@hotmail.com
