David Borman to Project Manage the Waihinga Centre
Property developer, David Borman was born and bred in Masterton and has been in the building and property development business for almost 40 years. His considerable work history has included building and project managing both commercial premises and high-end, national, award-winning homes. Some of his commercial projects include moving over and developing the White Swan Hotel in Greytown, the Fresh Choice Supermarket in Greytown, several wineries in Martinborough, the Times Age building in Masterton, the Masterton Town Square and the Powershop call centre in Kuripuni. Future projects include the development of the Chilton Building in Masterton which will house a physiotherapy business on the ground floor and have high-end apartments on the top floor, and building two boutique movie theatres with attached tapas restaurant in Kuripuni.
This year David will volunteer his time to assist Wairarapa councils in developing and improving amenities such as the Wairarapa Cricket Association grandstand at Queen Elizabeth Park in Masterton, project managing the $2.2m netball complex in Masterton and project managing the Waihinga Centre in Martinborough. David has already contributed many volunteer hours on the Waihinga Centre and shortly he will move in to a more formal arrangement with South Wairarapa District Council as Project Manager.
Dave will be working closely with Patrick Hay from Rawlinsons Quantity Surveyors and the Design and Construction team of Warren and Mahoney and Rigg Zschokke. Once the detailed design is complete and the project priced and approved by Council, a fixed price contract will be signed. David’s role will then be project managing the construction phase alongside Patrick Hay and liaising with the SWDC Construction management team. David will report directly to the CEO Paul Crimp.
David says he volunteers his time because it brings him personal satisfaction to see quality projects underway and making our region more prosperous.
“The Wairarapa is improving all the time and has been on the up for many years; I’m passionate about this place, new developments are good for the area and economy.”
