The Waihinga Charitable Trust, the Fundraising Team and the Communications Team would like to wish you all a happy and safe holiday season, a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2018. We are looking forward to seeing the doors on the Waihinga Centre open next year and will be continuing to work hard to deliver a Destination Playground and Park for our children to explore and enjoy.

If you are looking for gift ideas, our 2018 Diary is a great stocking filler and you could always donate a tree, bench or fence slat to the park or playground on behalf of those ‘hard to buy for’ relatives. Visit www.waihingacentre.nz to find out more.

Waihinga Centre Park and Playground Diary 2018
The children of Martinborough, Pirinoa and Kahautara appeal to you to help them to build their dream playground at the Waihinga Centre. The price of new playground equipment is considerable so the Waihinga Centre diary is just one way in which the children have participated to ask for your help.

This diary is the perfect gift for family members whose children or grandchildren attend Martinborough, Pirinoa, or Kahautara Schools, Dot Kids, and Bell Street Childcare, Martinborough Kindergarten or Playcentre. Each month features a child or children playing.

Keep your diary by the phone to list the activities month by month, or gift it to your children to show them how to keep their own diary.

The cost of the diary is $20.00 and with limited numbers it would pay to get in early.

Diaries may be purchased through your school, kindergarten, playcentre or childcare centre, from the Library, P & K and the Village Café or call Lyle Griffiths on 06 306 8421. They will also be available for sale at the Te Kairanga Farmers Market 10am to 3pm on Sunday 3rd December.

A Fabulous 4WD Family Fun Day Out
We would like to welcome all 4WD enthusiasts and amateurs to take part in a great day’s drive over some magnificent country, through privately owned sheep stations, with stunning views of farmland and the coast.

You don’t have to be a hardcore off-roader to take part. In fact, even if your SUV has never been off the road you will still enjoy a great adventure through the farms to the rugged White Rock coast.
When: Sunday, 11th February 2018. If wet Sunday, 18th February
Where: Assemble at Martinborough Rugby Football Ground in Regent Street (between New York Street and Huangarua Road) at 9.30am.
The Route: Vehicles will leave the Martinborough Rugby Club ground at 10.30am and travel in convoy along Pahaoa Road to Cannock road. We then proceed ‘off road’ to Pukeatua Station and on to Lagoon Hills Station. This will take about two hours. We will stop for lunch at Tuturumuri School on White Rock Road where there is ample parking and toilets. After lunch we drive along White Rock road, through Manahau Station and turn into Ben and Georgie Lutyens Riversdale Station. This is a very spectacular section winding up through kanuka and manuka forest with spectacular views of the Tora coast. We then go via Chris and Bert Tyers property to White Rock Station. This will take approximately two hours. When we reach White Rock Station we will have completed the exciting part and we return to Martinborough via the White rock road with an optional stop at the windmills.
Cost: The cost of the trip is $80 per vehicle.
Registration: Please register by the end of January. This can be done by emailing Ro Griffiths at roandlyle@xtra.co.nz with your name, address, telephone number and vehicle registration. At the same time please deposit the entry fee of $80 per vehicle to the Waihinga Trust bank account, number 01 0671 0391532 00, and include 4WD and surname as a reference.

Once the money has been received you will receive a receipt and a Disclaimer form which you need to sign and bring to the rally.

Funds raised from the 4WD adventure will go towards buying some exciting playground equipment for the new landscaped family playground in front of the Waihinga Centre.
