WHAREKAKA NEWS
Two new Wharekaka villas are almost complete – all that remains is the fencing and landscaping. The villas are a stylish addition to the Wharekaka Village and thanks to local architect, Victoria Read, they will be the blueprint for any further developments. One of the villas has already sold, but the other is currently on the market – please contact Louise at Wharekaka if you are interested.
Wharekaka is a wonderful asset for our community, and we want to ensure it continues for many years to come. A new Bequests Programme is being developed and a brochure is available from your local solicitor, accountant, library, doctor or from Sally at the reception desk at Wharekaka.
If you are updating or making a new will, do please consider leaving Wharekaka a legacy. It is one way that you can contribute to helping our elderly residents in Martinborough, Featherston, Greytown and the wider South Wairarapa.
The Auxiliary have done an amazing job fundraising over the last few months with the Martinborough House and Garden Tour and providing delicious teas at the February Martinborough Fair. This has allowed the Home to buy new uniforms for the staff, purchase a bain marie to keep food warm and safe for residents in the dining room and increase the number of expensive pressure mattresses and air cushions for our residents to sit comfortably. Thanks to everyone who has helped purchase these much needed items.
Our residents continue to enjoy this warm summer weather with outings in the van, picnic in the park and quiz exchanges with other homes in the district. There is never a dull moment with Maggie providing superb activities.
Thanks to all those who responded to the call for volunteers – we really appreciate you wanting to help and we will be back in touch.
