We had a beautiful Changeover Afternoon Tea on 25 July at the Carterton Court House. As you can see from the photos below, it was a gracious and very pleasant afternoon. A number of members searched through their collections of fine linen that they had inherited from their mothers and grandmothers, with the added benefit of sharing family stories at the same time before the tables were set.  Alma’s daughter, Helen and Kathleen’s granddaughter, Zoe did the honours as kitchen and waiting “staff”, carrying out their duties with aplomb.

Four members attended District Changeover in Parararamu a fun-focussed ‘gathering” with minimal formality. Alma Parr, Liz Poynter, Maureen Mortenson and I arrived at 10.30 am, to be welcomed with Devonshire teas. Very nice indeed. After a warm welcome by Carol Woodfield, Chairman, a short time was spent discussing business. This included introducing the new Executive committee, of which I am now a member as District Editor.  As you can see from the photo, there was a hat theme. Guess who forgot her hat!

The guest speaker, Libby Carson was an unemployed event manager who spoke about her experience of the global event of the year, Covid 19. While many of us were frightened of getting the virus, Libby was afraid of spending so much time by herself during lockdown. As she put it, “Me and Myself could have had a falling out!”  Suffice to say, she was a fantastic speaker, hilarious but with a serious side.
