 Putangirua Pinnacles Pickle

It was an overcast day with no wind when we arrived at the Putangirua Pinnacles car park. Three of our party chose to go fishing instead of walking. The remaining five of us set off up the stream bed for 15 minutes or so until we got to the turn off to climb up through the bush. There must have been a flood when the Wairarapa had heavy rain about two weeks before the trip, as there were bushes uprooted, and the track on the stream bed was pretty much gone. … Continue Reading

Martinborough’s museum doesn’t charge admission, so it can stay accessible to everyone.  Instead we rely on donations or koha from visitors and the generosity of the community.   

We’d like to use our column this month to say thank you to those who have gifted to the museum recently:

Esther Street Residents: $253 from their mid-winter dinner.  Money will be used to create a new heritage letterbox, designed as a replica of the museum building.

Toast Martinborough is set to kick start a summer season that looks promising for the South Wairarapa economy. With over 75% of tickets sold already in just 2 weeks, Toast 2020 looks set to break records. The flow-on economic impact benefits the entire region. 

Airbnb’s and rental cottages have been booked out solid, and all accommodation is stretched to the max for the weekend that is being marketed as “The Best Sunday Ever”.
