A Trailer Full of Fun!

June 11, 2018 June2018 No Comments

Over $3,000 worth of brand new play equipment has been added to Sport Wellington Wairarapa’s Fun Play Trailer thanks to a Community Partnerships grant through the Health Promotion Agency.

As a shared resource for the early childhood centres/providers in Wairarapa, the under 5’s Fun Play Trailer was established in 2005 by Sport Wellington Wairarapa to help foster and develop the foundation and fundamental movement skills of children under five. It contains equipment that enables an environment for children to be set up which helps them learn and explore through physical activity – using equipment and resources that challenge and develop their cognitive growth.

The new equipment includes a wider range of target equipment, different types of balls/throwing implements, balance and stability apparatus, equipment that kids can manipulate themselves, and equipment that Early Learning Centres may not have or be able to afford. The variety will aid in developing a child’s fundamental movement skills.

Earlier in February, South End Kindergarten were the first to experience the brand-new equipment, “We would like to thank Sport Wellington Wairarapa for delivering the updated sports trailer for our use this term. The children are looking forward to exploring the equipment and developing their physical skills in our spacious outdoor environment”

 – South End Kindergarten.

The under 5’s Fun Play Trailer is available for Early Childhood Centres and other organisations delivering to children under five years to hire at a cost of $5 per week for up to 4 weeks.
