All Washed Up

November 18, 2016 November 2016 No Comments

all-washed-up So Spring has finally come to Martinborough. The vines are growing their leaves, lambs are everywhere and the days are getting warmer. You may have also noticed a number of re-cycled planters, signboards, cafe tables and lamp-posts are also springing up around the town !! These are all down to Tim Holman, the owner of driftwood and rustic timber design ‘All Washed Up’ who arrived in Martinborough just six months ago from the Coromandel.

Tim’s past was a world away, literally, having travelled the world for 30 years setting up, designing and running restaurants, bars and hotels. These include the famous Ice Hotel in the depths of the Artic Circle, Sweden and Antiks Brasserie in Auckland, which he set up with his then brother-in-law Micheal van De Elzen of food truck fame.

Now resident in Martinborough he works part-time for the Kershaw family and also finds time to design and make unique items from driftwood
collected the local rivers and beaches as well as rustic timber from local farmers and land owners.
TIP: Before burning any used wood, fence posts, old gates, doors, or
weatherboarding give Tim a call it could be worth a few beers at Cool Change.
The driftwood fascination started on the coasts of Sweden when
walking his dog on the beach. His energetic boarder collie, Flippen,
would always return with a few sticks and Tim thought “maybe I could
do something with these”, the rest is history !
