Bowling Club

March was a very busy month for members of the Martinborough Lawn Bowls Club with players completing club championship matches and taking part in Centre champion of champion tournaments.
Following were the winners of the respective club championship events :

Mens :
Singles : Hayden Frew defeated Pedro McGillicuddy .
Pairs : Sonny Crawford and Peter Ireland defeated Robert Murray and Pedro McGillicuddy .
Triples : Blue Hunt , Robert Murray and Neville Smith defeated Hayden Frew , Tony Lee and Lester Dee .
The club fours was taken out by Hayden Frew , Lester Dee , Peter Ireland and Neville Smith .
Ladies :
Singles : Maryanne Ashworth defeated Janalle Frew .
Pairs : Tanya Brown and Maryanne Ashworth defeated Leah McKenzie and Janalle Frew .
In the Centre champion of champion fours Hayden Frew , Robert Murray , Lester Dee and Neville Smith were successful with a nail biting win over their Masterton opponents 14 – 12 .
Thursday evening twilight business house competition resulted in a win for Putt It on 67.5 points .
It was the third year in succession that this side has taken out the top honours , congratulations .
The final standings were [ top five ] Putt It , Murdoch James 62 , Freefellas 57 , Brewery Boys 54 , Vino Boys and Vineyard Layers 51.5 .
The club is looking forward to all players returning next year with hopefully some new faces joining in the fun .

Martinborough will be well represented in the Intercentre 1-8 year rep team to play in Wellington April 9 – 10 ; Hayden Frew , Janalle Frew , Leah Mackenzie and Maryanne Ashworth .Congratulations and good bowling !
