Kahutara students who took part in the South Featherston School Agricultural Day .All of these students took either their lamb or calf and competed in their appropriate grade.
The Brough Cup was first presented in 1934 and named the Featherston Group Calf Club’.  South Featherston, Featherston, St Teresas, Kahutara-Tuhitarata and Kahutara Schools have all won the cup over those years, however consecutively, since 1998 Kahutara School have held the trophy!

The cup is won by a points system of placings through out the day.  It is a beautiful heavy silver trophy which the school enjoys to have proudly displayed in the entrance to the office.

Bonnie’s successes .
Martinborough School’s Bonnie Alloway Davidson has had a very successful season with her Romney Suffolk cross lamb Bert. Winning first prize for each of care/condition, ringcraft and breed/type in the Year 4/5 age group at the South Wairarapa Lamb and Calf club Day held at Clareville.  She also was the reserve champion for breed/type which was judged across all age groups.

The following weekend Bonnie also won two second places at the Wairarapa A&P Show.  And had previously won a second place at Martinborough School for care and condition.

The photos are of Bonnie taken after the South Wairarapa Lamb and Calf Group Day at Clareville and of the lamb with all awards (including a ribbon for fancy dress from Martinborough School).

Tuturumuri defies the weather.
Despite the Weather Gods not looking kindly on the Tuturumuri School A&P day the organizers were not deterred. The result was a highly successful event with a great crowd.

The children’s stock was in excellent condition. Tom Robinson took out the Tuturumuri Shield for 2014 with his calf Gus, with Finn Bargh producing the top lamb.

Despite the weather Pete and Rita pulled off an incredible hangi and the café was as popular as ever.
