Miracles do still happen.

I rode my mobility scooter up to Pain and Kershaw’s to buy some groceries.  Filled up the scooter bag on the back of the scooter.  Piled the Martinborough shopping bag on top and went home.  Unpacked the bag and no Martinborough shopping bag there.  Rang the store and one of the staff checked the trolleys for me without success.

Panic, then a wonderful family arrived at the door with my bag and the wallet inside all intact! I did thank them very much but they had disappeared before I could give then a reward.  They had found my bag in the Mitre 10 yard.

The point of this story is:  There are many caring, helpful people around all the time.

Apparently, sausages and pasta will be a favourite, maybe 2minute noodles. And fudge, lots of fudge…!

They have also checked in with some of their neighbours to see if they can form a little group – they live close so are able to help if another family get unwell.  … Continue Reading

Wharekaka Trust invites ideas from community

March 8, 2022 March 2022 Comments Off on Wharekaka Trust invites ideas from community

“We are asking for ideas and feedback from the community on how the Wharekaka Trust can best provide support for older people in Martinborough once the Wharekaka facility closes,” says Wharekaka Trust Board Chair, Joy Cooper.

Financial challenges, a Covid-related shortage of nursing staff and a deteriorating building led to the Board announcing the closure of residential and hospital level care at Wharekaka earlier this year.

The residential villas on site are unaffected by the closure, and the Board is looking at ways to retain Wharekaka’s popular Meals on Wheels service. … Continue Reading
