Councilor comment

November 16, 2022 November 2022 Comments Off on Councilor comment

By councilor Aidan Ellims

I’d like to start by saying how humble and privileged I am to be representing the Martinborough ward on the South Wairarapa District Council along with our local Councillors, Kaye McAulay and Pip Maynard.

I would also like to thank both Pam Colenso and Brian “Jeppy” Jephson for their service on Council representing Martinborough residents and ratepayers.  In last months Martinborough Star, Pam outlined her 21 years on both our Community Board and Council, detailing many changes which have occurred in that time across the town and district. … Continue Reading

November Raffles Support the NZ Red Cross

November 16, 2022 November 2022 Comments Off on November Raffles Support the NZ Red Cross

By Mike Armour

Each year, local Red Cross groups throughout the Wairarapa host a series of events to highlight the disaster welfare support and humanitarian work of the Red Cross in NZ and world-wide.

Last year we had a fantastic prize, including the basked of goodies and ginger-bread house made by one of our members.  With your help we raised over $700 for the work of the Red Cross at home and abroad.

On 5 November, local Red Cross groups will again be holding a Raffle to raise money for the work of the NZ Red Cross in the Wairarapa and throughout NZ.

The Raffle will be held in two locations this year.  In Martinborough, P&K in Jellicoe Street will again be the location this year, and a Raffle will also be held at the Featherston Super Value store.

His introduction to journalism was with the Victoria University student  newspaper in the 1970s. From there he was employed as a Listener political commentator and illustrator where he worked for over a decade before joining the Evening Post and later it’s successor The Dom Post. … Continue Reading

New golf clubhouse build, fund-raising up and running

Martinborough golf’s new clubhouse build is well under way _ as are fundraising efforts. It doesn’t seem long since we watched the demolition of the old clubhouse and now the frames for half the new building are in place with scaffolding up ready for the roof timbers. Everything is going …
