July club night featured Bay of Plenty Bluesman Mike Garner with blues harp player extraordinaire, Neil Billington. Garner and Billington were on fire and played to an enthusiastic audience at the Tin Hut. Billington’s reputation as NZ’s finest exponent of the blues harmonica, was well proven and vocals shared with Mike were superb!

August is a Members’ Night (World Famous in Wairarapa) and some of the many very fine musicians who call Wairarapa home will perform. Some of the musician members of the Blues Club have toured nationally or supported international musicians. Members’ night gives them the opportunity of a little more time to really strut their stuff. The combinations that occur can be dynamic!

Our webmaster is Masterton photographer Mike Warman. Along with his excellent videos and stills of our performers and guests taken over the years, Mike has added a new feature to the webpage – Video of the Month – classic Blues footage. This month features Big Bill Broonzy with his superb version of “The Glory of Love”. It should bring a smile to your face. crosscreekblues.org/

September’s guests will be the Jake Stokes Blues Band. With influences such as Joe Bonamassa and Rory Gallagher, they have become a formidable upcoming force on the New Zealand blues scene. They will play a set of blues-rock classics scattered with their own originals.
Cross Creek Blues Club – Tin Hut – Tauherenikau Wednesday 5 August 2015 – 7:15pm. (Dinner from 5pm). All welcome. Members $2. Music lovers $5.
