Cross Creek Blues Club

December 16, 2014 December 2014 No Comments

cross-creek-blues-clubNovember’s “Ladies’ Night” was yet another night to remember! Auckland pianist and singer Caitlin Smith wooed us and wowed us all with her voice and her charm.

So did a line-up of amazing local women including the superb and multi-talented Kate Marshall; and Martinborough’s own Mel and Pip Maynard and “Blues 101” band with their powerful blues interpretations, including a superb version of “Rainy night in Georgia”.

December’s Guest is New Zealand singer/songwriter, musician and artist, Delaney Davidson. The guitar and harmonica are his trademark and a small battered suitcase, his props table for the magic show. With reverb vocals and slap back beats he builds the full drive of a juke band to capture the Chicago sounds of Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters. Not to be missed!

First up for 2015, on 7 th January are those two slinky sirens from Ladies Night, Marian Carter and Cindy Muggeridge – the “Raven Mavens” on seductive clarinet and piano. They will be joined by Neil Billington, one of NZ leading exponents of Blues harmonica in the Chicago style.
