Free swimming at local pools

February 16, 2017 February 2017 No Comments

A free pool entry programme for local pools designed to give access to pools to local children to ensure that all would get the chance to swim regularly through the school holidays.

Between 2 January and 6 February, children who are registered in the programme will swim free on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In order to check that the child lives within the South Wairarapa electorate they had to register at one of the libraries where a special ticket was issued.

The three Community Boards worked together in order to run this free swimming programme for South Wairarapa children, support had been secured from a number of groups.
Martinborough Community Board has been sponsoring children’s free swims for a number of years. Lisa Cornelissen, Chair of Martinborough Community Board, said the Board leapt at the chance to sponsor an extended programme this year. “It is great to see the three Community Boards working together with South Wairarapa District Council to improve access to the pools” Lisa said.
