Greetings from Plunket!

March 15, 2016 March 2016 No Comments

Summer-funIt is truly hard to believe that we are almost into the third month of 2016! March, the month when Plunket holds its Annual Appeal. Some information about this later.
More importantly, I want to report on the great Playcentre – Toy Library – Book Babies – Plunket Christmas Party that was enjoyed by many children and adults. The Bouncy Castle was going non-stop; the ice-creams and strawberries filled many an eager mouth; and happy children received fun gifts from Father Christmas.

A huge thankyou to our warm, sociable Father Christmas (Mate Higginson) and his Mother Christmas who arrived in their decorated, red ‘sleigh’ with Honey (a wee dog who was a hit with the wee ones). Thanks to all the helpers who made this lovely event possible and such a success.
We are in Martinborough Fair mode at the moment and Plunket provides the Parent’s Room in the Town Hall side room. Let your visiting friends know that there is this quiet, cool space for them to go to for changing babies, feeding wee ones, having a cup of tea or a cool drink, or merely a place to catch their breath in. All are most welcome.

Now, Appeal Week! We are planning to have a raffle table outside Pain & Kershaw Grocery on Saturday 12 and Thursday 17 March. Our raffle has approximately six prizes (at this point) for the winners to choose from, though I won’t reveal them to you just yet. Proceeds from the raffle will go toward “Upgrading Plunket Room Furniture – With Parent and Child-Friendly Focus”. If there are any willing sitters who would help us ‘man’ the raffle table, please contact Pat (3066237) to join our roster. Do come along and support us by buying a ticket – or two!

Some Martinborough business people have also agreed to have our Plunket Donation Buckets in their stores during March. If you have any spare change we would be grateful if you popped it into the buckets. Everything we collect goes to support the parents and youngsters in our community, so ‘thankyou’ in anticipation of your support.
Should there be any community people who would like to join our Plunket Group, we are a friendly group who work to give babes (along with their Mums and Dads) the very best start possible in their lives in and around Martinborough. We would love to have you join us. Just contact Lia (3069798) or Pat (3066237).
