Highly successful Cross Country

The South Wairarapa schools were treated to a perfect mid winter day for their annual Cross Country competitions held, as usual, at Kahutara School’s challenging course.

Pupils from the eleven Schools from Carterton and south took part. They were cheered on by a record number of parents and supporters, all enjoying the keen competition and beautiful day.

Place getters from schools in Star’s distribution area were:
Year 3 girls: Maggie Sargent, South Featherston 2nd.
Year 4 boys: Patrick Nicholson, Martinborough 2nd ,Angus Jaspers Kahutara 3rd.
Year 5 girls: Ruby Broom, Martinborough 3rd Boys: Ethan Boyd , Martinborough 3rd.
Year 6 girls: Te Atawai, Pirinoa 3rd .Boys: Mark Steventon , Martinborough 2nd. Lachie Bargh, Kahutara 3rd
Year 7 girls: Amy Wood, Kahutara 1st. Charlotte Dieterich, Martinborough 2nd. Maisie Arnold-Barron, Kahutara 3rd. Boys Pierce Aarsen, Martinborough 3rd.
Year 8 girls: Anna Broom, Martinborough 1st. Pippi Orr, Kahutara 2nd. Boys: Caleb Freeman, Kahutara 1st. Fergus Hughes , Martinborough 2nd.

The first ten placings in each race, except year 3, will compete in the Wellington Regional finals to be held at Waikanae on Tuesday 1st July.

Appreciation was expressed to Kahutara Principal Clare Crawford for all the work which she had put into arranging such a smoothly run afternoon’s competition.
