Inner Wheel Club of South Wairarapa

February 16, 2017 February 2017 No Comments

After the literally shocking events in Kaikoura in November, Inner Wheel South Wairarapa initiated a challenge to other clubs in District 2294 to donate towards the Red Cross Kaikoura Earthquake Appeal. This resulted in $2,700 raised to date which our Treasurer, Shelagh Wilde, will send to the Red Cross.

We had a wonderful Xmas lunch at the Gladstone Vineyard which
was very well patronised by our members and their partners. However, it was not all about us. We used this opportunity for members to bring along a Xmas wrapped parcel for a child or family in need, which was to be given to Wairarapa families, along with food for the food bank. To support the work of our committee member responsible for our club’s International Service Abroad work (Caroline Millard) members also donated small “bottom drawer” objects to be sent to the Solomon Islands. Basically Xmas has been a productive event, and it was not even 25 December!

The 2nd edition of Laugh your tits off! by Anne Hayden, a light hearted aid to families of, and people with breast cancer has been selling well. To date, over 60 copies have been sold at $15 per copy, quite a few as Xmas gifts. If you wish to order a copy, please email iznzpublicist@gmail.com. Alternatively you can order from our Greytown branch of IW by contacting Monica Rose Ph: (06) 3049265, or email: graymon@xtra.co.nz. New Members are welcome, please contact Judy Shakespeare at 06 379-6554
