It’s Round the Vines time again

March 15, 2016 March 2016 No Comments

It's-Round-the-Vines-time-againMartinborough Round the Vines is celebrating 21 years on Sunday 20th March and this iconic event continues to be popular with locals and visitors alike. There are four great options to choose from: 21km Run, 21km Walk, 10km Run and the ever popular 10km Walk. The event is Martinborough School’s biggest fundraiser of the year and all funds raised this year will be going towards our exciting new adventure playground project.

“Round the Vines is definitely one of the highlights of Martinborough’s summer events calendar, with people coming from all over New Zealand, and overseas, to soak up the fun, friendly community atmosphere”, says event organiser Viv Malneek. “Plenty of entrants return year after year, saying that they love the course and the great spot prizes on offer from our amazing local sponsors. We’d love to see as many locals as possible getting involved and taking part in this great event, whether they’re serious competitors or more leisurely participants!”
The course covers quiet country roads as well as otherwise inaccessible vineyard land, and live music out on the course adds to the carnival atmosphere. A selection of Martinborough wines is available to taste throughout the course for those who are emphasising the “fun” element of the day, as well as the usual fun run offerings of water and fresh fruit!

Round the Vines starts and finishes in the square where, after the event, spot prizes include the premier prize of two nights for two people at Peppers Parehua including a four-course dining experience, and plenty of other prizes for placings, spot prizes and fancy dressed competitors!
Major sponsors of the event include Genesis Energy, Peppers Parehua, Shoe Clinic, Brooks Running, Printcraft and MoreFM along with Toast Martinborough, Thunderpants, Palliser Estate Wines and Ata Rangi, as well as many more generous local sponsors, all of whom make this event an amazing day out!

Individuals and teams of four can register online (www.roundthevines.org.nz) or larger teams by emailing info@roundthevines.org.nz. We’re looking forward to seeing you out on the course!
