Let’s Celebrate!

December 14, 2016 December 2016 No Comments

lets-celebrateWow! All the township is gearing up for Christmas and we are preparing for our ‘Playcentre, Plunket, Toy Library Christmas Party’ again. We hope all the littlies in the district with their Mums and/or Dads will join us at the Playcentre on Wednesday 7 December at 10.00am to share some Christmas cheer and to enjoy meeting Santa Claus. The Bouncy Castle will be operating too!

Apart from this, we have the most wonderful news to tell you. The Venice Street Martinborough Plunket property has been sold! But wait for the best bit: It has been sold to Sophie Bidwill, a local lady who is intending to keep the building! The ‘whispers’ around town were of concern that the building would be demolished. The ‘whisperers’ may rest assured that Sophie loves the Plunket building and wants to preserve it, if at all possible. Our 1927 precious Plunket home is to stay – even though the name has changed from ‘The Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children’ as it was back then!

Now our Group will continue to negotiate for the intended dollars to be committed to the new Waihinga Centre, where Plunket will forever be available to the community within that wonderful centre. We have worked since 2014 for this to happen and all can now celebrate the victory. Merry Christmas and remember that PlunketLine (0800 933 922) is on hand to assist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you need support!

A huge vote of thanks must go to Susan Stephen for her work on the sale. It has been fraught with many difficulties. As Plunket is a national body Susan has had to work with official personnel as well as keeping our Martinborough Group in the loop, and she has done this efficiently. It is important to note that neither Susan nor her firm ‘Leaders’ will benefit financially from the sale. Their commissions will be donated to the local ‘Life Flight’; again benefitting our Wairarapa community. It is rewarding to see everyone pull together for our people. Thank you Susan, for a marvellous job so very well done!

As you are gearing up for the festive season, and as the weather begins to let us know that Summer is on the way, Martinborough Plunket Group would like to wish you all a safe, relaxing, fun-filled Christmas enjoying all the people that you love.

A Joyful Christmas from Us.
