Here we are, Spring again, and where did that year go.  Did you know it is only 4 months to Christmas.  Yes, I know you didn’t want to hear that – neither did I.  At least the weather will be nice then, am a bit sick of the cold and rain.  Am also fed up with sickness.

All my family have been sick with colds, of course not all at the same time.  Oh no.  I have had to have a day or two to look after number one son and then another day or so for each of my gorgeous daughters (not so gorgeous with runny, sneezy noses).

I know many of you have been suffering as well and we have been in super antiseptic mode wiping down the computers and door handles regularly just to help stem the flow.  At least it will soon be on the way out.

Anyway what books have we got this month for you.  Lots of your special orders coming in, it can just take a few days to process them and then they will be out and ready for you.  The reserves shelf has been inundated and Janet may well be in danger of being squished if they topple over unexpectedly, so please do come in and check your reserves.

Lots of new biographies, must be the season for them.  Also quite a few new crime authors as well as Australian outback stories.  If you want something really weird then how about the true story of the man who lived like a goat for a year – complete with exoskeleton and external stomach.

The publishers are taking it easy at the moment before they rev up for the Christmas season but if you do see a book you fancy while you are out and about at Hedleys then let me know.

We need to keep our booksellers going so feel free to buy books but also keep me in the loop so I can be on top of the latest releases.  It can be difficult to keep up with what is current as I don’t get out to bookshops very often to see the stock and online buying has its drawbacks.

I was lucky enough to spend some time at Unity Books in Wellington a few weeks ago while at the Film Festival and made my usual list of books to buy.  Unity won the award for best bookseller in NZ last year and (alongside Hedleys) it is my very favourite bookshop.
