November 21, 2018 November 2018 No Comments

Well where has the year gone, November already! Its been nice to see people come out of hibernation and the outdoor toys get some action now the weather is on the up. We have been keeping busy October was full of fun with a Toy Sale and Bingo night.

It was great to clear some old pre loved toys out to make new for some new additions and the Bingo night was very well supported from both sponsors and bingo fans new and old. These two events meant we raised over $800!! We have some great new items on the shopping list which we think will be hits with everyone! A thanks also to the Community Board for a grant that saw us purchase a new online system that will make operations easy in our new home the Waihenga centre.

You can take advantage of a half year membership now at just $40 for families and $20 for grandparents its a good chance to try out Toy Library and maximise those outdoor toys for Summer. Call in on a Saturday 10-12 to have a look around and sign up.

We are also really happy to be co hosting the Intergenerational play group at Wharekaka. This is held on the first Wednesday of the month and runs from 11am -12pm. The goal of these playgroups is to alleviate loneliness. One hour of your time will make someone’s week.
The playgroup will go for about an hour and is fairly informal, just a chance to spend time with the lovely residents and for the kids to play with some toys from Martinborough Toy Library. Come along and watch how special this interaction between young and old is.

As always the mums and babes movie is also on the last Wednesday of the month with the November screening being the last for the year so lets make it a great turn out, we really appreciate Tim and the team at Circus working with us on this and we have enjoyed great support again this year, here’s to more of the same in 2019!

Thanks  Charlotte & the Toy Library Team
