Trust House Grant Boosts Fundraising Efforts

December 16, 2014 December 2014 No Comments

The Martinborough Town Hall and Community Centre project has received a significant boost in the form of a grant of $150,000 from the Trust House Foundation. “We are delighted that the Trust House foundation recognises the significance of this project and the potential it has to improve the delivery of community services,” Martinborough Community Centre Steering Group spokesman Max Stevens said.

This contribution takes the fundraising total to $1.35m dollars from over 65 donors. The amazing level of community donations and fundraising activities has been humbling for the Steering Group who wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has pledged donations or run fundraising events.

As well as private pledges and the generous contribution from Trust House, recent fundraising highlights include Mark Hadlow’s MAMIL, the Tora Challenge and the ongoing Cattle Drive. The MAMIL gala night raised $7,500 towards the fund with Mark Hadow praising the extraordinary acoustics of his home town auditorium.

The Tora Challenge lived up to its name but the mud and slippery conditions didn’t dampen the spirit of over 800 competitors who crossed the finish line. The event raised $15,000 for the Community Centre project and is set to become a fixture on the local events calendar.

Finally, the Community Cattle Drive is proving to be a great way for local farmers to play a significant role in supporting the project. Organiser Felicity Warren and the group have set themselves an ambitious target and are well on the way with over $42,000 raised so far.
