Mens Shed refurbishing bikes
Mens shed have started a new program to refurbish push bikes and make them available to the school for their use. We will clean them up and make minor repairs and keep them serviced for the kids. We are fortunate to have Green Jersey Cycle Tours supporting us in the programme. Three bikes have been donated, fixed up and passed on to the school which will be used by kids in a triathlon at the end of the term. Bikes for school age kids, in repairable condition are a welcome donation any time. Bring them to the Shed at 20 Cork Street on Wednesday or Saturday mornings or contact Ric on 021 905 808.Although the summer weather hasn’t been great, the team has been making good progress on painting the exterior of the Shed. Thanks to Mike Woolley and John Hargraves, we have had use of portable scaffolding to reach up to the eves and we are on the way to completing 2 undercoats and 2 top coats.
A couple window panes needed replaced, and thanks to Mike Anders, the Glass Guy, for donating and installing the glass. Council plans to replace the roofing iron and spouting which will complete the restoration of the outside of the Old Courthouse. Work will be continued inside and under the floor during the colder months.
Meanwhile, members are working on various projects of their own and for the public. Tool and knife sharpening is an ongoing service. Some items are for sale at the shed. Come and have a look at the toys, turned wood and other items on offer.
As a fundraiser, we provided a sausage sizzle at the Brasell farm clearing sale. It was a good fund raiser and thanks to Jim and Dinny for inviting us and to Susan Stephen of Ray White Leaders for the new portable sign for the Shed used at the event.
If you haven’t been for a while why not come and join us for a cuppa on our open times, Wednesdays or Saturdays at 10am.
