Tea Retreats

You already know that Martinborough is good for your soul. What could be better to add to that than two experienced local health professionals teaming up to deliver what is also good for your body and mind. After a chance conversation at a Tippy Toes pre-school music session, Sarah Donaldson and Sarah Percy discovered their shared passion for proactive health and wellbeing. They have now combined their respective professional expertise in psychology and nutrition in their new business, Tea Retreats, and are offering an enticing array of wellbeing retreats.

‘Tea’ in Tea Retreats stands for Think, Eat and Act. “Tea Retreats targets 3 key pillars of health: mental resilience, nutrition and activity” says Clinical Psychologist, Sarah Donaldson. “While you may have other elements such as connecting to others or faith that are important to you, if you don’t get the Think, Eat, Act sorted, optimal health is impossible to achieve”.

Sarah and Sarah believe in a proactive approach to health – taking time out to focus on your wellbeing before ill health sets in. A recent survey in New Zealand showed that people aged in their 40’s had the worst diets, poorest sleep patterns, highest levels of stress and participated in the least amount of exercise compared to all the other age groups in the nation. “Unchecked, these issues can affect your health in a detrimental way due to inflammatory responses in the body and an inadequate nutritional intake” says Registered Dietitian, Sarah Percy. “People are so busy with work and family commitments, then add in trendy but not necessarily proven advice off the internet, and it can be really difficult to understand how to achieve good health. We aim to make that easy for people through trusted advice that is practical and enjoyable”.

Tea Retreats offer a variety of packages to suit people’s individual wellbeing needs. Weekend Retreats, One Day Retreats, individualised sessions and corporate events make up the Tea offerings. The next One Day Wellbeing Retreat is scheduled for the 19th September at Parehua Country Estate in Martinborough and includes a fabulous lunch, nourishing snacks, workshop sessions in nutrition, stress and sleep, a cooking demonstration and either a yoga session or vineyard walk. Perfect for those wanting a great day out to improve their health in a holistic way.
