Poem
BY JOHN ANSELL
on Anzac Day 2021
Skinned of their skin and bled of their blood,
Encased in the ground, encaked with mud,
Now side by side, the white and the brown,
They both stood up and they both fell down.
They’d fought for a cause they thought was right.
Their clothes are brown and their bones are white.
Now side by side, by day and by night,
Their clothes are brown and their bones are white.
