A Big Thank you From The Dame Malvina Major Foundation
The Wellington Committee of The Dame Malvina Major Foundation were thrilled with the response from Martinborough and wider community to their December fundraiser. Dame Malvina “loved the people, loved the venue and loved performing with the young music students”.
The concert was hosted by Winifred & David Bull for the Committee at their home; The Cabbage Tree Vineyard. Feedback from a member of the audience summed up the mood of people who attended “…The concert was stunning. We were glad to be part of it. The feeling that everyone enjoyed themselves was palpable. The day, the ambience and the fine young musicians transcended the trials and tribulations of the world and conspired to make [one] feel that life is worth living”.
A relaxed conversationalist, Dame Malvina circulated among the audience speaking with many folk as did the other musicians. Ticket sales raised $5200. The musicians were paid a small retainer each in recognition of the preparation, practice and time they put in. There were one or two other small expenses. $4000 was donated to the Foundation. The Wellington Committee also appreciated the contribution The Lions of Martinborough made to the success of the concert.
The Dame Malvina Major Foundation thanks you all for supporting this fundraiser.
