Book launch
‘Hero of the hill’ is a tale featuring the Featherston Fell Museum’s locomotive written by acclaimed children’s author Joy Cowley and beautifully illustrated by Wellington artist Philip Webb.
The idea of such a book was suggested to Joy by Pat Flynn, an original member and long serving secretary of the Fell Museum committee. Joy immediately liked the idea and agreed to write the story and also arrange for the illustrating and producing of the book. Joy has also donated all royalties to the Museum.
The result is a beautiful tale fabulously illustrated in a hard cover book.
Distributed by Scholastic books Hero of he hill will be available throughout New Zealand and Australia. It is available from the Fell Museum.
The book will be launched at the ANZAC Hall at 2pm on Saturday 28th September. Both Joy Cowley will be speaking and Philip Webb explaining the process of illustrating the book. St Teresa’s School children will sing a song about the Fell engine composed for the occasion by Carrie Watson. All are very welcome.
