Booktown global meet ready to roll

March 12, 2024 March 2024 No Comments

By Denver Grenell, Marketing Coordinator Featherston Booktown

Delegates from Booktowns around the globe will visit Featherston and the region as the town

hosts the International Organisation of Booktowns Global Conference 14 – 18 March, which  coincides with the 2024 Featherston Booktown Karukatea Festival launch on Friday 15 March.

Kia ora booklovers!

The global meeting will cover four days of events and sightseeing.

It will also provide valuable networking opportunities for the delegates, including working sessions where delegates will share experiences of their  respective Booktowns and learn from each other.

Tickets to the Featherston Booktown Karukatea Festival go on sale for Friends, supporters and the Featherston community at 9:00 p.m. on 15 March.

As promised last month, we have a special code for Phoenix readers to get early bird tickets at a discounted price on Eventfinda: EARLY24. Tickets for the general public will then go on sale on Monday 18 March.

On that note, Featherston Booktown would like to invite you to become a cherished member of our community – a Friend of Featherston Booktown!

By joining this fantastic community of Friends, you’re a catalyst for enabling books to be put into the hands of young readers through the book voucher scheme.

Last year, the incredible support from Friends like you allowed local booksellers to gift 1,450 vouchers to our local tamariki. This year they are increasing the value of the vouchers to $20 (up from $15 in previous years).

Head over to https://www.booktown.org. now and discover more about the magic of being a Featherston Booktown Friend.

Volunteers are a vital part of the Featherston Booktown Karukatea Festival and help ensure that all of the events (50 last year!) run on time and without a hitch.

Volunteering with Featherston Booktown is a great way to meet new people and be a part of a fun and exciting cultural event.

Booktown will also be offering first aid training to volunteers this year, with details of this opportunity to come.

If you would like to lend a hand, please get in touch by emailing Volunteer Captain Hannah Sellars at  hannah@booktown.nz
