The purpose of the Martinborough Business Association is to provide a platform to promote and support local business and growth development, to align and collaborate with Martinborough and other centres in the Wairarapa as well as tourist and visitor promotion organisations and advocate for the business community with our council and other service organisations.

We have completed a long standing project with the CCTV camera initiative, and are currently on the final stages of the website development. This will then mean we can step forward into new projects.

Martinborough Golf Round

With October under our belt and summer-like temperatures tempting us out onto the golf course it’s well and truly time to dust off your trundler and enjoy/endure following a little white ball on a mystery journey!

At the beginning of October, the men’s 36 and 54-hole tournament was played; Saturday was a wash-out, but Sunday was a cracker of a day. 54-hole best gross: 1st Owen Lloyd, 2nd Troy Shaw, 3rd Cameron Elers. 36-hole best gross: 1st Thomas Spearman-Burn, 2nd Peter Spearman-Burn, 3rd Josh Kahui. Best Nett: 1st Dean Schaef, 2nd Mike Charteris, 3rd Robert Kahui.  Numerous nearest the pins and twos – thanks to sponsors Trust House for making the event a huge success.

The 9-holers have had a busy month; club champs results: A Div: Jaquee Reid; runner up Debbie Coom.  B Div: Tingay Davidson, runner Up, Mary Herrick. A Plate: Sue Dalton runner Up; Sandy Burgess. They also held their 9 Hole Open Day at the end of the month and had a field of 68 from 9 Clubs attending. The weather was kind and made for pleasant playing conditions, sadly none of the Martinborough contingent made the podium, however massive congratulations to Pat Wood who was national winner of the Sue Bunt Salver – Home Links Competition for this year.

Grumpies have been rained off and have had an away day out at Ngawi, but when they did get a game in winners have included Nick Allen and Rob McCreary. … Continue Reading

For grandparents and whanau kin caregivers raising grandchildren please know , you are not alone as the GRG (Charitable) Trust NZ is there to help you be empowered and supported. GRG services are all available free of charge to these full-time carers  who become GRG members.

These family members take on the children’s full-time care  because of a sudden or unexpected family breakdown.  There may be substance abuse , physical or mental illness , the death or imprisonment of a parent and in these situations the children may have experienced trauma and/or neglect.

There can then be a significant change in lifestyle and future plans bringing stress, feelings of loss, grief , anger ,anxiety , financial worries and uncertainty for all  . It is then very important to seek help and support  quickly.
