Greetings readers and very best wishes for 2012.

We at the Club have had a very busy holiday season with a lot of visitors who were all impressed with our course presented to them by “Manpower”; he truly does a very good job.
Club Captain Kris Chamberlain remains at the helm and in December a Thursday was put aside to play for a trophy remembering Neil Smith who passed away 13 months ago. The trophy made by Graham Jacobson was won by an ecstatic Roger Parkinson and Mary Smith presented it to him.

Lisa-Marie Ireland

By Kevin Campbell
This is my last write-up for the year and the club certainly has finished the year on a high note with Lisa-Marie Ireland winning the silver ladies Champion of Champions recently and now Jason van Zanten winning the men’s Champion of Champions at Karori last week. Jason, who has just turned 19 was playing against men on plus 3 and plus 1 handicaps. What an amazing performance from both players. … Continue Reading

Funride

The event was held on 30th October this year and just under 500 riders enjoyed a wonderful sunny day. Although numbers were slightly down on last year we fared well compared to other local rides. The good conditions attracted a lot of riders on the day.
We would like to thank the following local sponsors Te Kairanga, Toast Martinborough, Tirohana, Trilogy , Scotty’s Meats and Breadcraft.
Once again the Martinborough Volunteer Fire Brigade did a fantastic job in cooking the BBQ food, and on-course marshalling co-ordination.
The Martinborough Lionesses made a very valuable contribution to the rest of the food provided. They put a lot of effort into the preparation and presentation of the food on the day. Their work is always appreciated. Comments from riders say that this meal is “the best” they receive on rides. … Continue Reading

We had the AB Martin Open Mixed foursomes – a very good field took part and the winners were Helen Kirk and Martin Napier with a very impressive Nett 64. Some of the locals who played well were Bruce and Cathy Ward, Ailsa Griffiths and Terry Blacktop and youngsters Amy Austin and Reuben Crook. George and Philippa Kirk shared sixth place with Lyle and Ro Griffiths. … Continue Reading
