rugbyMarty Senior rugby team kicked off the season with an emphatic win over Puketoi 73 -5. The first try was scored by Jared Hawkins dotting down in just 1 minute 10 seconds from the whistle. Top try scorers were Nathan Hunt with 4 trys and Josh Hawkins getting 2 under his belt.Tipi Haira top scored for Marty with 23 points.

Martinborough won/lost against Gladstone at Gladstone ( copy to be inseretd once we know the result.

This week the boys are up against away/home so if you have a chance come and support the guys. Keep an eye out for the seniors draw, it is yet to be confirmed but we will publish it once we know more.

The Senior reserves coached by trevor Hawkins will start their season on March 6th April.

JABS had an awesome response to registration day and it looks like there will be quite a few little tackers running out on the park on saturday mornings.

All the old boys keep your diary clear as Old timers day is on the Saturday, 11th May.

The season is well and truly underway and the real golf has begun after one of the hottest summers I have experienced for a very long time. The course is in great order thanks to Darren and Mark who have toiled to keep the greens in tip top order.
 
The ladies played pennants one Monday against Royal Wellington. They do have to be congratulated for the amount of work they do in preparing for one of these events and Martinborough won.

The Grumpy’s continue to thrive every Tuesday with steady numbers. Terry Blacktop does a pretty good job looking after them. Ali Holmes played off the wrong handicap recently and blamed the computer and then his playing partner all over one point. Leftie Ray Lind has won the comp two weeks in a row and George Marshall who has been sidelined for a few weeks with a leg injury has returned to the game and was the only one who had to pay for a jug which is now up to 32. … Continue Reading

Let’s start off with the opening day activities. The format was teams of four playing a type of Ambrose. After prize giving members had a fantastic meal which was followed by Graham Jacobson and his karaoke. Peter Hudson put on a first class act when he climbed a pole but got stuck on a nail and it was some time before he managed to get down and Bob Goodley put on a right royal act until his trousers fell down to his ankles, which was not a pretty sight. Martinborough rugby club kicks off the new season with a new look. For the new look we sought the help from local designers Dustys&Lulu to create a new logo that would help us look more professional, established and approachable. It helped that Dusty had a taste of playing rugby for Marty last season to get a feel for the club.
