Community Board Update

March 13, 2015 March 2015, Regular Features No Comments

Community-Board-notesWell, we are definitely fully back into the swing of things following the Christmas and January break. SWDC is working hard on the Long Term Plan and Martinborough Community Board will be meeting in March to consider our input. Areas we are looking at include footpaths, a better solution for recycling containers, Ultra Fast Broadband and, of course, the Waihinga Centre development.

Whilst we would encourage people to make their own submissions, please drop me an e-mailif you think there’s something that we should consider for the Long Term Plan.

We are currently accepting grant applications, we have a grant pool of over $6,000 for community initiatives that show benefit to the wider Martinborough ward community. You can find out more and download application forms from the SWDC website – the URL is below. Applications must be in by the end of March.

Finally, we’re sad to farewell Adi McMaster from the Martinborough Community Board, but wish her all the best with her MartyGirl natural skincare business. Adi has been a great advocate for youth in Martinborough and has been instrumental in setting up the youth forum, I’m sure we will stay in touch on youth issues.

This means there’s a vacancy on the board with nominations closing midday on the 23rd March. The official stuff is all available at SWDC.govt.nz and if you’d like to find out more myself or any of the board members would be happy to meet for a chat.
